(SportsNetwork.com) - The Florida Panthers are getting points as they struggle to score goals. The Panthers put a five-game point streak on the line Saturday night as they play host to the Philadelphia Flyers. Florida followed up a 2-0-2 road trip with a 2-1 victory over the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday. That win came five days after the Panthers capped the trip with a overtime loss to the Coyotes and put the club at 3-2-3 on the season. Brandon Pirri scored in a third straight game and Scottie Upshall recorded the winning goal with 9:04 remaining in regulation. Upshall scored just after he finished serving a penalty for charging, moving in on goal following a pass from Tomas Kopecky before putting a back-hand shot into the net. Ill take a penalty like that if the (penalty kill) stands up like it did and I get one out of the box, Upshall said. It was a big goal for us. Roberto Luongo made 32 saves and has posted a 2.32 goals against average with a .926 save percentage in seven starts this season. Luongos play is a key reason that the Panthers have secured as many points as they have despite having scored two goals or fewer in seven of their eight games. The lone exception was a 4-3 overtime win at Colorado on Oct. 21. Floridas scoring depth took a hit in Thursdays win as center Aleksander Barkov left the game with a lower-body injury and is day-to-day. The Flyers, meanwhile, have been held to fewer than three goals just twice in 10 games and forward Jakub Voracek is tied for the league lead with 15 points while pacing all NHL skaters with 12 assists. Pittsburghs Sidney Crosby and Dallas Tyler Seguin also have 15 points this season. Voracek had a goal and an assist in Thursdays 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning as Philadelphia had a three-game winning streak snapped. Wayne Simmonds and Michael Raffl added a goal each and Claude Giroux had two assists to give him 11 on the year. Obviously its a tough loss, but I think the game overall was better than the result, said Voracek, who has four straight multi-point games, the first Flyer to do so since Simon Gagne had five in a row from Feb. 8-17, 2007. Ray Emery, who had been in net for each game of the recent winning streak, took the loss despite making 28 saves. Steve Mason expects to start tonight looking for his first win of the season. Philadelphia announced after Thursdays loss the signing of free agent defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo. He practiced on Friday, but is not expected to debut in this game. Colaiacovo has 401 games of NHL experience, but appeared in just 25 games with St. Louis last season and six with Detroit the campaign before. Philadelphia, though, will get forward Vinny Lecavalier back from a left ankle injury that has caused him to miss the last seven games. He has a goal and three points in three games this season after notching 37 points in 69 games in 2013-14. The Flyers have won eight of their past 12 versus the Panthers, including six of the last seven in Sunrise. Replica Soccer Jerseys . The Detroit Tigers slugger fell short in his bid to become the first player to win the Triple Crown in successive seasons.LONDON - Manchester United was repeatedly thwarted by Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in a scrappy 0-0 draw on Sunday but will go into the second half of the Premier League season re-established as a top-four team.On the slide a year ago in sixth at the midway point, United is now third after extending its unbeaten run to nine matches and primed to return to the Champions League under Louis van Gaal. With leader Chelsea and second-placed Manchester City also drawing, the result was a missed opportunity for United to cut the seven-point gap.Radamel Falcao, Robin van Persie and Ashley Young were all denied by the France goalkeepers saves. Although Phil Jones headed the ball into the net in the first half, the United defender was adjudged to be offside. It was the best performance of Manchester United this season in the first half, Van Gaal said. We could have scored four or five goals and we didnt reward ourselves. The blame was not put on Uniteds misfiring strikers but on the football authorities for scheduling the game less than 43 hours after the teams finished their Friday fixture in Englands traditionally congested post-Christmas program. It is scientifically proven the body cannot recover in 48 hours, said Van Gaal, who still retained the same players who started in Fridays 3-1 win over Newcastle. When you, as a Football Association, allow, you have seen whats its like ... in the second half it wasnt football anymore it was a struggle for life. But both teams had the same recovery period, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino pointed out.dddddddddddd.I never complain when the opponent is in the same condition as you, Pochettino said. And Tottenham went a fifth game unbeaten to provisionally move above Arsenal into sixth, just a point from fourth-place Southampton. It required Lloris to be alert throughout, with the goalkeeper first denying Falcaos 18th-minute shot after the Colombia forward was fed by the lively Juan Mata.Lloris was beaten when Mata whipped in a free kick but spared by the post. When the rebound came off Tottenham defender Ben Davies, Lloris prevented an own goal before Vlad Chiriches cleared Falcaos attempt from the goal-line.The ball did cross the line from Jones header, but he was offside. The finishing then let down United as a counterattack ended with a shot from Falcao that failed to trouble Lloris, who came also came off his line to prevent a dithering Van Persie from shooting.Lloris had to be at full stretch to turn Youngs shot wide before the end of a half when Tottenhams goal attempts were restricted to Harry Kanes ineffective close-range effort and Andros Townsend from distance.Townsend again tried and failed to beat David de Gea with a stinging shot from the outside of the area in a second half when neither side looked capable of scoring.I said in the dressing room when you cannot win such type of matches when you are the better team ... its very difficult to be the champion at the end of the season, Van Gaal said.
