Norman, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - Having recently suffered their third loss of the season, the Oklahoma Sooners will try to regroup as they play host to the Weber State Wildcats in non-conference action on Monday night. Weber State has had a rough start to the 2014-15 campaign, as it has a 4-5 record heading into this contest. The Wildcats had lost two in a row on the heels of a modest two-game win streak prior to Saturdays home date with Utah Valley. In that contest, WSU righted the ship by claiming a 73-61 victory -- its third in four home games this season. Oklahoma took a 7-2 record into Saturdays showdown with No. 16 Washington in Las Vegas, and coach Lon Krugers club came up just short in its bid to win its fourth straight game as it fell in a 69-67 final. The Sooners other two losses came against a pair of solid foes in Creighton (65-63) and Wisconsin (69-56), and they will try to improve to 5-0 at home with a win tonight. OU will play one more non-league opponent in George Mason on New Years Eve, before opening the Big 12 Conference portion of its schedule at home versus Baylor four days later. Oklahoma has won 106 of its last 110 home games against non-conference opponents. This is the first meeting between these two schools on the hardwood. Richaud Gittens drained five 3-pointers in amassing 21 points, and Jeremy Senglin added 16 points while handing out eight assists, all of which helped Weber State knock off visiting Utah Valley on Saturday. Joel Bolomboy and Chris Golden chipped in 11 points apiece for the Wildcats, who shot just 40.7 percent from the floor, but did knock down 12-of-26 long-range launches (.462). A near-perfect showing at the foul line (17-of-18) also played an integral role, as did a defensive effort that allowed the Wolverines to convert only 36.2 percent of their total shots, including a mere 3-of-12 on 3- point tries. UVU stayed in the game by going 24-of-28 at the charity stripe. Senglin is averaging a team-best 14.4 points and 3.4 assists per game, while Bolomboy is a consistent double-double threat with 13.6 points and 10.0 rebounds per outing. Gittens turns in 10.0 ppg for a Weber State squad that produces 63 ppg while allowing 64.8 ppg. The Wildcats have performed well at the free-throw line (.790), but are in the red in both rebounding (-3.1) and turnover (-1.9) differential. As if facing an undefeated team wasnt hard enough, Oklahoma allowed Washington to open up a 20-point, first-half lead before waking up and doing what it could to get back into contention. Almost all of the teams scoring was done by the starting five, four of which reached double figures. Isaiah Cousins and Buddy Hield led the way with 17 points apiece, while Ryan Spangler and Tashawn Thomas each finished with 11. The Sooners shot just 37.5 percent from the floor over the first 20 minutes, but improved to 46.9 percent after the break. Meanwhile, the Huskies knocked down nearly half of their total shots in the contest, while securing a 14-8 edge in points from the foul line. Hield continues to pace Oklahoma in scoring with his 16.1 ppg, but Cousins (13.7 ppg, 6.3 rpg) isnt far off the pace, while Thomas (10.7 ppg, 5.1 rpg) and Spangler (10.1 ppg, 8.9 rpg) net double digits on a consistent basis as well. As a team, the Sooners are generating 74.2 ppg while permitting only 61.9 ppg, and they also own favorable margins in both the rebounding (+2.5) and turnover (+1.5) departments. Stingy defense has played a significant role in the teams positive start, as OU is allowing its enemies to shoot just 37.4 percent from the field, which includes a 29.2 percent effort from beyond the arc. Trevor Kelley Jersey . This is Lowry’s third time winning the award in his career. He won the award last season and as a member of the Houston Rockets in 2011. Eduardo Rodriguez Jersey . -- The Chicago Bears agreed Tuesday to a one-year contract with defensive lineman Israel Idonije and are bringing him back for a second stint. https://www.cheapredsox.com/301z-wade-bo...-red-sox.html.Y. - Through three quarters, the Brooklyn Nets could not shake the NBAs worst team. Carl Yastrzemski Red Sox Jersey . No, really, his head. Late in the game, the St. Louis goalie craned his neck into the air to block a shot, taking a puck square in the mask. Joe Cronin Red Sox Jersey . - Houston defensive end J.Two days ago our Farhan Lalji reported that one of the greatest receivers in CFL history, Geroy Simon was calling it a career. Since Farhans tweet, there have been all kinds of speculation as to why Simon would hang them up now, when as recently as a month and a half ago he indicated that he felt like he could play at least one more year. The rumour getting the most traction is that he wasnt offered enough money by Saskatchewan GM Brendan Taman to make another year worth his while. However, sources very close to the situation said on Sunday night that this decision had nothing to do with money. The recent talks between the Rider GM and Simon went fine and did not factor into his decision. Information which makes sense because in all my discussions with the CFLs yardage leader throughout the years he has never made decisions based on money, and there is no reason to think he would start now. Simon was trending on Twitter shortly after it was known that he was retiring, including tweets from many fans wondering why he wouldnt sign a one day contract with the Lions and hold the press conference in BC, since he played there the majority of his career there and racked up 14,756 of his 16,352 career yards as a Lion. Retiring with the team youve played for the bulk of your career with has become ordinary practice for most athletes in all sports. However, since entering the league with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Simon has been anything but ordinary, and has followed his own path. Last year he played for the Roughriders, and his best game of the season was the most important game of the season, when he had two touchdown catches in the Grey Cup against Hamilton, so he will retire a Rider. As for whether or not he could end up on another roster and play one more year in a different city, a source said as of Sunday night Simon had not heard from any other team in the league.dddddddddddd While it seems shocking that teams wouldnt at least contact him to gauge his interest in playing somewhere else, we shouldnt read into the lack of interest too much. First, Simon hasnt made it official, and until papers are filed to the league he is still a Roughrider. Also dont be surprised to hear that No. 81 may be hanging up his jersey, but isnt going to leave football, and that information may have already leaked to the other teams in the league. He still has gas in the tank and could help a young team like Ottawa for instance, and I consider myself one of many who think he could play at least one more year. However, it sounds like hes decided its time to make the transition into the next phase of his life, and once you have retired in your mind you are not going back, so it will be interesting to see what his new role in the game will be. As initially reported, the official press conference will be held sometime this week in Regina, and will mark the end of the playing career of the most productive receiver in CFL history. But as good as Simon was as a player he is even a better person, and will be successful in anything he does in the future. As I mentioned, it sounds like he will stay in football for now, but I know from previous conversations with him that he would be interested in exploring TV and I for one would welcome him with open arms to our team at TSN, if that opportunity ever presented itself. He also has other interests and business partners away from the game, and you can bet there will be lots of open doors in the corporate world for Simon if he chooses to go that route. I mean, who wouldnt want to hire Superman. ' ' '
