The Montreal Canadiens have avoided salary arbitration with forward Lars Eller, signing him to a four-year, $14 million contract on Thursday. Ellers new deal is worth an average annual value of $3.5 million and buys up two years of his status as a potential unrestricted free agent. "We are very pleased to have agreed upon a long term agreement with Lars Eller," said Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin in a team statement. "He is an important part of our group of young veterans. He has a tremendous work ethic and a great attitude. He is the type of player you can rely on for his play at both ends of the rink. Lars can play big minutes against the opponents top players and still be an offensive threat. We are confident he will reach his full potential and become an impact player who will compete at a high level for many years to come." Eller, 25, filed for salary arbitration with the Canadiens on July 5 with a hearing that was scheduled for Friday. "Im very happy to be a Canadien for four more years," he said on the Canadiens conference call on Thursday. "This is the place I want to be." He scored 12 goals and 28 points in 77 regular season games and added five goals and 13 points in 17 playoff games. "The number one thing for me is consistency," Eller added. "When Im on top of my game, theres not much I want to change." Originally selected in the first round (13th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues, Eller has scored 45 goals and 58 assists in 286 career NHL games with the Canadiens and Blues. The Canadiens acquired Eller in 2010 from the Blues along with Ian Schultz in exchange for Jaroslav Halak. NBA Jerseys 2020 . Smiths former Atlanta teammates were glad to hang on for an ugly win.
